Riding High at Cannington Equestrian Centre

Equestrian students at Bridgwater College demonstrated their talents at their end of term competition last month, competing against each other in dressage, clear round jumping and show jumping.

Ellie on CharlieThe competition, organised by Equine Yard Technician Hatti Scott, was a riding assessment as part of the students' course module. "These competitions give the students a chance to have fun and demonstrate the skills they've learnt and developed over the past term", said Hatti.

The competitions are held at the College's Equestrian Centre in Cannington which stables its own horses and has facilities such as an indoor school, outdoor ménage, dressage boards and show jumps - which are available to hire by clubs and individuals outside of the college.

Ellie Gibbs, a second year student on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management says: "The schools here are great and I have been able to use the facilities on my course and outside of college hours. I like the competitions we have here as they're good for development and to show how much you've improved."
